Suits of the season

Well suited

A well-tailored suit is a year-round wardrobe staple, but when it comes to summer, your choice of material is crucial.

Warmer weather necessitates clothing that will keep us cool despite the temperature rising. When it comes to suits, however, practicality isn’t always synonymous with polish. To ensure that you don’t need to compromise on comfort or style, focus on fabric, fit and fashionable add-ons.

(Not) cut from the same cloth

At this time of the year we need clothing that is a little looser and made from material that is able to breathe think: linen and viscose-rich fabrics. (Pack away the tweed and wool for the winter months, when being cosy is what you’re after.) Don’t be afraid of the wrinkles that linen and viscose often develop in summer, you can get away with more relaxed and unfussy materials.

Fit like a glove

When it comes to suits and how they fit, a skinny or slim fit is often the go-to. However, the narrow profile that a tight or slender fit creates may at times feel confining. If you still want to look good without sweating into your champagne glass, opt for a regular or relaxed fit.

Dressed to the nines

Now that you have the fabric and fit sorted, how will you style it? Keep your look laidback by wearing a simple crisp white tee with your pastel-hued or nude suit.

Or make things a little more preppy and retro with an open-necked smart golfer below a patterned or darker suit. For a super fancy occasion, pair with a smart shirt and your shiniest shoes. Finish off each look with a stylish watch, a simple neck or wrist chain, and your favourite pair of shades.

Off the cuff

Don’t be caught off guard this season looking for a smart outfit at the last minute. At Markham we have suits for every occasion, from classic and neutral to pastel and patterned. You may have a tough time deciding may we suggest one of each?

Yes, the living may be easy in summer, but there will be certain events that call for a sharper look, and a summer suit is the obvious choice. Get your fit and your fabric right and you’ll be remembered for all the right reasons this season.
