Mashie, Norsky_96 + Masonwabe x Markham

Meet the collaborators on our latest capsule collection

If you didn’t already know about Markham’s collaboration with some of SA’s hottest design talent, well, now you know. We’ve already told you a little about the collab and introduced you to two of the people who created capsule collections, Yay Abe and African Ginger, and now we’d like you to meet another three artists who brought their artistic vision to life in the form of pieces that you can wear right now.

Norsky_96

“I find inspiration in people and places around me,” says Gilbert Mndawo aka Norsky_96, winner of our MKM Hustle Creative Search. “Colour, movement and culture are at the forefront of my designs. The creation of the viscose shirt was inspired by current trends, and my take on the summer edge and entry back into the outdoor world.”

With a slightly dreamy feel that brings to mind warm days on the world’s best beaches, his pieces are ready for any summer adventure.

Mashie

Mashie’s pieces take a bright, graphic approach to a familiar pool-ready pattern: the leaves best-known for their repeat appearances on shirts and shorts in the warmer months. Worn together, the patterned shorts and shirt make for a considered contrast that’s still ready for fun. A multi-disciplinary, multi-talented artist, she’s made the transition from canvas and digital art to clothing look effortless.

Masonwabe

Masonwabe’s well-curated style gives it a standout quality for those who appreciate that the simplest things in life are sometimes the best. This textile design graduate is inspired by isiXhosa culture, various facets of African life and culture, and the everyday experiences of black people. For our collaboration, he’s designed pieces that are as stylish as they are comfortable, adaptable and easy to wear.
