Flip Ur Flops

Relay Jeans’ Green Summer Initiative.

Relay Jeans is starting summer with a bang! How? We’re making a difference in South African communities, with your old flip flops! We’ve teamed up with MARKHAM, myTFGrewards, EVA and RTT to launch our Flip Ur Flops sustainability drive for cleaner oceans and reduced landfill waste.

As we all become more aware of our own impact on the environment, it has become clear that everyone has a responsibility to make a lasting impact on global sustainability. Basically, we know that we have to change the way we do things in order to help Planet Earth. Here at MARKHAM and Relay Jeans, we’re on a journey to doing just that, one step at a time – well, one flip-flop at a time.

Our goal is to drive awareness around reducing landfill waste and the importance of having cleaner oceans – all while breathing new life into disadvantaged communities.

How does it work?

We all have a pair of old flip flops that are long past their use-by date. All myTFGrewards members and accounts customers can exchange ANY pair of old or used flip flops for a 10% discount on their next new pair of Relay Jeans flip flops. Simply drop your old pair in the cardboard boxes found near till points at participating stores, and then pick out your new pair you’re getting at a reduced rate!

These boxes can be found in 30 of our selected stores across the country – 10 Markham stores and 20 Relay Jeans stores (Find out which stores below).

What happens to all the old flip flops?

Once the boxes in the store are filled up, our store teams will seal them up tightly and send them off via RTT to EVA industries. The flip flops will then be upcycled into a host of various uses – from artificial grass, drainage solutions and fillings for boxing bags. The artificial grass will be used in the building of a training turf, while the boxing bags will be donated to various schools and sporting facilities in disadvantaged areas.

This summer, it’s out with the old and in with the new because when the brands you love go green, so do you.

This campaign would not be possible without the partnership of EVA industries, RTT and my TFGrewards, who all play an integral part in this sustainability drive.
