Date Night

Date Night

From a fancy dinner to beers with the boys or even a networking meet, music can play as much of a part in how the occasion will go, as the way you present yourself and your frame of mind.

Both your threads and your tunes help to set the tone for the dates that follow… From hanging out with the guys or business networking over an after-work drink, to an upmarket, fancy date with your partner or a casual family sunset picnic in the park — the music you listen to before, during or after can have a significant impact on your mood.

Whether it’s in the car to get you pumped, on a portable speaker you bring along, or the background music at a restaurant, take note of what’s playing.

Hanging out with the guys

When you’re out with your boys, both the fit and the tracks need to match the energy. So, when everyone arrives looking sharp, make sure the music keeps the hype going. Our suggestions include anything from ‘Rich Flex’ by your main men Drake and 21 Savage to ‘WHOLE LOTTA MONEY’ by BIA.

Networking over an after-work drink

If you’re networking after work, the jams need to be a tad more professional – but definitely still upbeat. Make sure you look the part too.

For instance, throw on a blazer and a smart pair of shoes, and suggest a place that has a classy yet vibey atmosphere, where mood-boosting tunes as diverse as ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis and ‘Can’t knock the hustle’ by Jay-Z are likely to be played.

Schmoozing your partner on the town

If you’re taking your special someone on a date, make sure the music and your outfit set the mood. Why not go all out with a suit and tie — and perhaps try experimenting with a pattern or pick a colour you don’t usually wear.

Now for the music… Play some chilled tunes in the car or before you leave, and later, if the restaurant allows, request a smooth, classic track like Barry White’s ‘Anything’ or ‘Lady in Red’ by Chris De Burgh or Adele’s version of Bob Dylan’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’.

Casual family sunset picnic in the park

When wholesome family fun is the name of the game, choose comfort for your outfit and grab your portable speaker before you head out the door. Prep a playlist of family favourites — think: ‘I’ll Be There’ by The Jackson 5 or The Beatles’ ‘Here Comes the Sun’ or even the full Shrek soundtrack, and get ready to have a good time.

Music has a key effect on our mood… Curate the perfect soundtrack for every occasion and you’ll always come out top (of the pops)!
